Preservé is a minimally invasive breast augmentation technique developed with the goal of preserving as much of the breast’s natural anatomy and tissue as possible while minimizing unnecessary tissue dissection during creation of the breast implant pocket.
Instead of extensively dissecting the tissues as in conventional breast augmentation techniques, Preservé focuses on gently and controllably expanding the implant pocket, helping preserve the integrity of the surrounding natural breast tissues.
Because less tissue disruption is involved, this approach may help reduce bleeding and postoperative swelling, thereby supporting a smoother and potentially shorter recovery period.
How Is Preservé Breast Augmentation Performed?
A distinctive feature of the Preservé breast augmentation technique is the way the breast implant pocket is created.
Rather than performing extensive tissue dissection with conventional surgical instruments, the surgeon uses a specialized balloon dissector to create the implant pocket.
The balloon dissector is inserted into the planned implant position and gradually expanded in a controlled manner. This allows the natural tissues to stretch and accommodate the intended implant volume instead of being dissected more extensively than necessary.
As a result:
The implant pocket is created to closely match the size of the selected breast implant.
Trauma to the surrounding tissues and blood vessels is minimized.
Bleeding during creation of the implant pocket is reduced.
The implant receives better support and stability within the newly created pocket.
The Preservé technique is designed according to minimally invasive surgical principles and may therefore be performed under local anesthesia combined with light sedation in appropriate cases.

Limitations of Preservé Tissue-Preserving Breast Augmentation
Preservé is not suitable for every breast augmentation patient.
The technique primarily involves placing the implant in front of the pectoralis major muscle. Therefore, the patient must have sufficient breast glandular tissue and soft-tissue thickness to provide appropriate coverage over the implant.
For patients with very thin breast glandular tissue or limited soft-tissue coverage, there may be a greater risk of visible or palpable implant edges, implant rippling, or noticeable implant contours.
