Is tummy tuck painful? Is there surgery?.

Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, is one of the popular cosmetic surgical procedures today. Various factors can cause your abdomen to lose firmness. Typically, factors such as obesity, pregnancy, and genetics contribute to loose skin, fat accumulation, and stretch marks on the abdominal area, leading to sagging skin.

A tummy tuck is performed to remove excess skin, abdominal fat, and stretch marks in the abdomen area. Additionally, loose abdominal muscles are reshaped to restore firmness, achieving a toned look similar to that before pregnancy. This procedure can be performed on its own but is often combined with liposuction to create a slimmer, firmer waistline.

This method is indicated for those with excess belly fat, excess skin, stretch mark or flabby abdominal wall.

The procedure of abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

Anesthetic method.

- Spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia.

Skin tighten incision.

- After tummy tuck, the surgeon will make an incision just above the pubic bone. The length of the incision will depend on the amount of excess abdominal skin.

Peel off the skin and fat.

- The surgeon will use an electric knife to separate the skin and fat from the abdominal wall.

Abdominal Muscle Stitching.

- To reshape the abdominal wall, the surgeon will suture the abdominal muscles, creating a slimmer, firmer belly and restoring a more compact waistline, similar to the pre-pregnancy shape.

Navel Reshaping.

- In cases where there is an amount of excess abdominal skin requiring the navel to be repositioned, the surgeon will create a new, reshaped navel.

Tummy tuck and remove excess skin, drainage.

- The excess skin is removed, drainage is put to reduce swelling after surgery, skin will stitch by using non-absorbable suture.

Postoperative.

- You will wear a special compression garment for two or four weeks, it helps reduce swelling and recover quickly. The suture will be cut after seven or ten days. The scar after surgery will be hidden in the underwear and gradually over time.
