What You Should Know About Hair Transplant Using ARTAS Robot

Here are some important information to keep in mind about hair transplant surgery using the ARTAS robot, these are crucial to have a smooth and effective procedure.

Pre-surgery.

1. Hair preparation.

- In the morning before the procedure, you need to wash your hair using regular shampoo. 

- Please consider the hairstyle you will have after the procedure. The donor area will need to be closely shaved with a clipper using a number 1 or 0 guard.

- We do not recommend dying your hair pre-operation. If you insist, the dying process should be complete at least 3 days prior to the procedures. After the procedure, you must wait 6 - 8 weeks before you can dye your hair again. Should be used a semi-permanent color instead of a permanent hair color that may cause damage to your new grafts. Permanent hair color can be used 3 months postoperative. 

2. Time and Procedure.

- Be on time. Please arrive at Viet My plastic surgery hospital within our working hours. About 8 A.M to 7 P.M on weekday and Saturday. We open from 8 A.M to 5 P.M on Sunday.

- On the day that you have the surgery. You will need at least a family member to accompany you, they will drive you to the hospital and pick you up after the procedure.  

- You must fill out a medical survey / questionnaire and signing into an agreement and commitment form.

- Pre-operative photos will be taken for your medical records, unless other you made other agreements with the hospital.  

- Wear a button down shirt or other clothes that is easy to take off without pull over your head. 

3. What should you avoid?.

- Do not consume alcohol or caffeine within 24 hour time frame before your procedure. 

- Have breakfast before arriving at the hospital for your procedure. 

- Smoking is strictly forbidden since it will intervene and slow down your healing process.
- Do not arrive to the hospital on a motorbike since you will not be able to wear a helmet to leave the hospital.

- Do not exercises or workout in the morning before the surgery.

4. Supplements and Medication.

- Please remember to bring the medicine if prescribed to you before the surgery.  

- Provide the doctor all information about  any medicine or supplements that you are currently taking. 

- Stop taking supplements and medications, especially those that cause bleeding such as aspirin, ibuprofen (advil/motrin), E and C vitamin ...

Robot Artas

During the procedure.

- A typical procedures will last for a whole working day. Therefore we will have lunch break. Please discuss about this with your technician, doctor and other hospital staff involved. 

- The surgeons will create a comfortable environment for you during the procedures. They will inform you when to go to the restroom or stretch your muscle. 

- Friends and family are not allowed to enter the operating room before the procedure is finished. However they will be able to visit and check on the process. Having them presented create non-sterile environment and violate safety guidelines by OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).

- You may listen to audiobooks or music as long as it is appropriate for everyone involve in the procedure. 

After surgery.

- All necessary prescriptions, medicines, and comprehensive post-operative care instructions will be provided to you. The doctor will let you know about all the expected symptoms and milestone to track. Please make sure you properly follow their directions.
