Fat transfer breast augmentation

How does your breast fat grafting work?.

Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation involves using your own excess fat harvested from areas like the abdomen, buttocks, or thighs and grafting it into the breasts. Although this technique has been applied in breast augmentation for over thirty years, it is not a popular choices popular among surgeons or patients around the world.

Not all the grafted fat cells will survive, most of them will be reabsorbed by the body, but the remaining fat will create permanent improvement. So the key innovation of this treatment method is the addition of stem cells to the fat graft. Before the introduction of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells (ADSC), post-purification fat cells only had a 30% survival rate once injected. By adding stem cells to the selected fat before injection, the survival rate jumps to 60%, demonstrating significantly improved results.

Procedure of breast augmentation with autologous fat injection.

Advantages.

- Create soft and natural breast

- Left no scars.

Disadvantages.

- Only clients that have the amount of excess fat at donor area double the amount needed will be qualified for this procedure.

Even with the addition of Adipose-Derived Stem Cells into the procedure, the fat survival rate is still only 60%. The remaining fat will be broken down by white blood cells through phagocytosis, causing calcification and create firm lump in these dead cell areas, which can appear as tumor like masses on medical imaging results.

- As a result, if a malignant tumor were to develop later, it might not be detected in time. This remains a significant unresolved issue with fat grafting, as it could delay the early detection of breast cancer.

- Additionally, the amount of fat injected into each breast should not exceed 300cc. If in the best-case, where 60% the fat survives, it  would only equate to a breast implant size of about 180cc, which fall short of most woman's expectation.

Anesthesia Method: General or Local Anesthesia.

Procedure Duration: 3 - 4 hours, including 3 steps.

Step 1: Fat is suctioned from areas with excess fat (abdomen, hips, thighs, etc.).

Step 2: The fat is centrifuged to extract high-quality fat and stem cells.

Step 3: Fat injected into the breasts according to the predetermined volume.

Step 4: Post-operative care.

The patient should follow doctor's Post-Operative Care guidelines, which have these details:

- Wearing a compression garment during the first two weeks, which help reduce swelling and support the newly grafted fat.

- Avoided strenuous work during the first 6 weeks, patients are allowed to come back to daily routine and perform light work in a few day.

- Take prescribed medication including antibiotics, pain relievers, and anti-inflammatory drugs to promote healing process.

The final result also depends on individual's physiology.
